About Pam Luker
I never thought I would ever have the confidence to teach as
I was a shy and retiring teenager. After trying out a
few different career choices and one summer job later I
developed an interest in gardening and became a
landscape designer and gardener. Due to lots of
lifting and digging by the age of 28 I had developed painful
and restrictive arthritis in my lower back. My partner
had to put my socks on for me in the mornings as I couldn’t
reach my feet. I also developed nerve damage in my
shoulders and arms due to working with heavy machinery.
My GP told me to take pain killers and referred me to
physiotherapy (for the standard 4 sessions), both of which
did nothing to help. So I sought out my own self help
and searched for over 10 years trying to find something to
ease my pain. I tried 14 months of
physiotherapy, 18 months of acupuncture and regular
massages of varying sorts but with no lasting results.
That was until I tried yoga, inspired by Godfrey Devereux,
founder of the Windfire Yoga Training Institute and author
of many books including ‘Dynamic Yoga’, ‘Elements of Yoga’
and ‘Hatha Yoga Breath by Breath’. My life changed
completely and I was hooked. I completed the Windfire
Yoga foundation courses and Dynamic Yoga Teacher Training
with Godfrey. My confidence grew and I could manage
the pain but the healing progress was slow. It was
during a yoga weekend away that I was introduced to The
Bowen Technique and decided to give it a try. I
couldn’t believe that in just 4 treatments one week apart
that my pain had gone completely. It was at this point
that I chose to train to be a Bowen therapist and the
results I have seen from my clients never cease to
amaze me.
I feel my previous lack of confidence, my physical
restrictions and debilitating pains have taught me to be
understanding and yet challenging in my teaching and my
therapy . I am fascinated with the mind/body
connection that both Yoga and Bowen have to offer,
especially when supported by each other, and I am
continually training and developing my techniques in both
areas.
Thank you to all my teachers and students for their support.

About Ken Stockwell
I first
became interested in holistic therapies after taking up yoga
classes run by my partner Pam. I found that the yoga helped
with the many stresses and strains of everyday life and
greatly improved the symptoms of migraine of which I have
suffered for many years. Inspired with this new direction
in life and a thirst for more knowledge I enroled on a
Indian head massage course at the local college. I was
immediately fascinated with all aspects of holistic
therapies and how they can can improve health and well being
without the use of conventional medicine.
I then
decided to take my studies further and knew that reflexology
was a treatment I wanted to learn more about. I again
enroled at my local college and thorougly enjoyed this new
experience. The results and comments I received from
clients was inspiring and I have since gone on to study
reflexology in more depth.
As as a
member of the FHT (Federation Of Holistic Therapists),
where the latest methods and techniques are taught through a
series of professional workshops, I continue to develop my
skills and have also attended lectures on the latest
discoveries involving connective tissues and meridian
pathways.
